About the event

FareShare has been supplying surplus food to Mike's Table since our very first event. I remember our first visit to the Depot and feeling I was in a weird version of Supermarket Sweep as I walked down the aisles and pointed at trays of this and that - sweet potatoes (recused from Tesco), tins of Chickpeas (rescued from Morrisons) - hoping it would all fit into my car and hoping our chefs could produce a 3 course meal from my choices.

FareShare supply food to charities all over the country making sure all kinds of organisations - from homeless shelters to school breakfast - have enough food to cook for their clients. They do great work. It wouldn't be possible without their huge team of volunteers and so they decided to celebrate National Volunteers Week with a party. They invited Mike's Table in to pick food from the depot and cook and prepare a buffet on site. We loved every minute of it! Sophie joined us as Head Chef and did a brilliant job on the BBQ. It was quite a party!

FareShare loves working with Mike’s Table. They demonstrate how to bring about social good through using surplus food, which without FareShare’s and Mike’s Table’s intervention would have ended up as waste.
