About the event
It really felt like the start of Christmas as we lit the candles and dimmed the lights ready for our 18 guests to arrive for a delicious meal at our now regular venue, 83 Dalston Lane. City Harvest did us proud again by providing exceptional ingredients for our festive menu. In the kitchen we were joined by Mike’s Table guest Shoaib who had previously joined us for dinner with his Host Nation friend Chloe. Shoaib currently resides in a hotel, pateintely waiting for his UK status to be confirmed, and he misses being able to cook; he also wants to feel useful. And he certainly was! He was a fantastic assistant to Andi along with new chef to us, Petra (from Leith’s School of Food and Wine).
This the third time we’ve been at 83 Dalston Lane and each evening has been unique. Of course the menu is always different but so are the guests and the interactions and conversations never cease to amase and delight us. We counted that at one end of the long table the guests could speak a combination of 10 languages. As ever, there was great interest in the food with Andi being asked for recipies at the end of the evening. What a lovely start to Christmas.
