We celebrated the coming spring and all that it promises - longer days, new growth, warmer weather.. At the table we saw warmth between strangers, new friendships springing up and old friends re-unite.
About the event
Andi saw the ingredients City Harvest had kindly sent us and scratched his head - what could he create with Wild Boar Sausages, Tofu, baby aubergines and lots of celery? Of course, City Harvest donated much more and of course Andi and the team produced crowd-pleasing dish after dish.
We welcomed F and his two delightful children for the first time. It was such a joy to see young people order straight from the menu, unafraid to try new things and then really enjoy their food. We didn’t need the emergency child-friendly supplies! Don’t worry they weren’t wasted. In fact nothing at all was thrown away. Another regular guest M told us that she has set up her own voluntary kitchen and she is cooking over 100 meals per week for the local homeless community. She left with the ingredients we didn’t use. M’s story is especially poignant as she, an asylum seeker fleeing an horrendous regime, experienced homelessness. With support and with absolute determination she is now living a good life in London, in the final year of a degree and finding time to give back. We are in awe.

Vermouth and Soda, made with either alcoholic Abydia Spanish Red Vermouth or High Point non-alcoholic Ruby aperitif.
Starter:
French Onion Soup with cheese soldiers or Wild Mushrooms in a cream sauce on Sourdough
Mains:
Wild Boar Ragu on Tagliatelle or Stir-fried Tofu rice with Katsu Curry both served with layered and seasoned aubergines and pak choi
Desert:
Lemon Cheese cake with Lemon Cream and Apple Compote
