Once again, we welcomed 18 guests for a glorious celebration of the Summer Solstice at Mike’s Table. The golden, summer light shone on our Dalston home all evening, creating a beautiful backdrop for guests to come together and share a delicious feast of food.
About the event
In spirit of the Summer Solstice, we invited guests to escape from London life and join us in Spain. The menu was a series of seven sharing tapas dishes. Simon, Louise’s brother, stepped up to lead the Mike’s Table kitchen for the first time. With his culinary creativity, he transported us straight to the heart of Spain!
After a long journey to Dalston, guests were greeted by our Front-of-House team and offered a refreshing Welcome Drink of choice: Summer Bitter Mocktail or a glass of Triennes Rosé. Every seat was filled, with a mix of old and new faces. For some of our guests, it was their first time at Mike’s Table, but they soon felt at home and made good friends by the end of the evening.
As the evening unfolded, tapas plates were brought out for guests to share and slowly enjoy. M came with her son, our youngest guest of the evening. She told us it had been her favourite day since being in the U.K., and her kind words stuck with our team. We hope to welcome them for another evening at Mike’s Table soon!
Before dessert, we held our raffle, which is always a highlight! This time, it was made even more special with generous donations of three birthday cakes, in celebration of Mike’s birthday. It was a beautiful moment for Louise, old friends of Mike volunteering that night, and all our guests. Our youngest guest was a lucky winner, promising he’d share the chocolate cake with his mum. For dessert, Daniel (our beloved Pudding Man) worked his magic once again, creating individual pavlovas with meringue, cream, and fresh fruit for guests.
Thank you to our dedicated team of volunteers, who work together to make Mike’s Table a memorable experience for every guest who joins us. Our wonderful kitchen team was led by Simon, with the helping hands of Alan, Daniel, Evelyn, and Pete. Louise, Fran, and Meggie led on front-of-house, ensuring that every guest felt welcome!
Thank you to our friends at City Harvest, who donated a wonderful range of unique, high-quality ingredients for our chefs to craft a delicious meal. The food is always within its use-by date and would otherwise be thrown away.
