It was the first truly warm day of 2023 and turned into a real celebration of Summer!
About the event
It’s not often we present our guests with an empty plate . . . . but it was a warm evening Andi and the Kitchen Team decided to forego the usual 3 courses, instead producing sharing platters of room temperature dishes and amazing salads.
83 Dalston Lane is such a convivial venue that as soon as guests arrive they start to chat away but with the sharing plates being passed around it made it even easier to break the ice.
As well as an incredible mix of food styles we also had a wonderful collection of interesting people at the table. V, “The Queen”, arrived early and regaled us tails of her incredible life. J, a regular over the years arrived a little flustered as she hates to be late, but soon settled in other guests were so delighted to see her again. It was S’s first time at Mike’s Table and she was justifiably nervous coming alone and not knowing what to expect, but soon visibly relaxed and she joined a table of friendly folk and was utterly delighted with the food. A is a chef at a refugee centre in West London and couldn’t compliment Andi enough. She brought two freinds and a beautiful baby girl which all added to the joy in the room.

Whole Roast Sea Bass with smashed Cucumber and Red Chilli salad
Morrocoan Spiced Houmus with Roast Peppers and salted Cottage Cheese

Brown Lentil Pasta Salad with Purple Sprouting Brocolli and Basil
Slow Roasted Cherry Tomatoes with Runner Beans
Couscous with Lemon and Fresh Herbs
All served with French Baguettes
Desert:
Homemade individual Strawberry Triffles served with a Coconut Macaroon

Daniel, who is the pudding king and made the amazing Trifles, also brought a strawberry and vanilla cake he’d made - which was our fantastic raffle prize.
